Whether you are running a business, planning a wedding, managing the household or working full time ... life can get particularly hectic. Even with the help of everything from an Iphone to a Thub, sorting out life's paper trail can be a nightmare.  Bills, bills and more bills, application forms, registration forms ... the list goes on.  

Every household has their favourite filing system from filing cabinet to letter tray,  but what about those immediate actions and reminders? The bill you have to pay next week.  The reminder to take the car for a service.  The local gym class schedule.  There are only so many magnets you can put on a fridge!

Because they're worth it!

It's no surprise that I love shoes.  Shoes, shoes and more shoes. High heels, stilettos, strappy sandles, ballet slippers ... I love them all.  Yesterday, I was dreaming about purchasing a pair of extravagant heels from one of the designer boutiques in Collins Street. They were the most equisite shoes I had ever seen with soft elegant straps covered with just the right amount of diamontes and a cute kitten heel.  Not only were they well about my budget, I couldn't help but think about how many pairs of shoes I have ruined by walking around the city.  Working near Collins Street is not only dangerous for the shopping nearby, there are so many cracks, holes and slippery spots that even a short walk round the corner can leave you tripping or in the least bruising a gorgeous pair of heels.  The city was just not made for ladies in heels!

It was either give up heels, or find a solution!

A little bit of magic ...

Baby's First Credit Card - Just a bit of fun?

Yesterday Little Girly Gadgets launched a new product, direct from the United States, a credit card teether for babies.  Designed and manufactured by Heelarious, these rubber Teethers are stamped with numbers, an expiry date and the name “Ima Spender”! 

The Herald Sun yesterday featured the credit card teether in a photo shoot which made page 3 news.  This cute gift for newborns became an instant media frenzy with Psychologists and debt consultants claiming to be outraged by the product.


Social commentator Maggie Hamilton feels that children are being forced to grow into "mini-adults" far too fast and "clever advertisers" are infiltrating their minds from six months of age ...  and later comments that "This is not harmless or humorous. Childhood is an endangered species. It's very sad."
 
What I think is sad is that Maggie seems to have lost her sense of fun and fails to see the lighter side of what really is a cute gift for a baby.  After appearing on the Today Show yesterday morning to respond to criticism from the "sourpusses", I have recieved some fantastic emails of support from new mums who can't wait to get their hands on one with the majority saying "what a great idea", "we don't need to take things so seriously".
 
I particularly liked the blog by Baby Cup Cakes (one of our suppliers: check our their range under Baby Girl category) who seemed to get a little laugh out my interview on the Today Show ..."My favourite bit of the whole news story was when the co-owner of the online gift boutique pointed out that butterfly shaped teethers did not encourage babies to eat butterflies in later life" Whichever side you take, at the end of the day, this product is actually one of the best designed teethers on the market. In the words of Babyology "from a purely practical point of view, I always struggled to find teethers that were thin enough for little mouths to fit around and this one fits the bill".




If we really are what we chew on as a baby, I suppose Maggie must have sucked on lemons as a newborn :)

It's all about the shoes ...

Tonight Girly Gadgets attended a charity screening of the new Sex and the City Movie along with 220 girls giggling over cupcakes and cosmopolitans.  I don't know if it was Carrie's shoes, BIG's chest or the powerful energy of a theatre full of females, but I absolutely loved this movie! 

The gorgeous girls who organised the charity screening raised over $6000 for breast cancer research and Girly Gadgets was only too pleased to throw in 4 x $50 vouchers as door prizes.  Congratulations to the 4 winners! 

It was a fantastic girl's night for a great cause and after a day in the city in my stilletto heals, I was so relieved to have my foldaways to walk to the tram in.

Coming soon, our new sister site will have over 100 gifts for baby girls to tweens.

We realised that many of our customers either have children of their own, or they have friends with little girls. So, we set out to find the cutest, most gorgeous gifts for little girls that we could find!

The new website will have a number of fun ranges including pretty pink doll houses, fairy dresses and gorgeous accessories for little girl's bedrooms.  There is a even a beautfiul range of gifts for special little baby girls.
