Be prepared for those last minute invites ...

Boadroom to Bar Essentials

The AFL grand final is just around the corner and for most of us, this means the beginning of the social season.  With spring fashion and racing carnivals, end of year celebrations and of course Christmas, you never know what's happening next!  The October to December party circuit can leave even the most Paris Hilton in us, checking in to a day spa for a week of recouperation.

But while most of us love a good party, we don't always appreciate a last minute invite, so it's good to be prepared.   Having a black dress jacket and an extra pair of shiny heels under your desk is a good start but what about those little essentials for a quick freshen up?

Our friends at Miette Beauty have created the perfect essentials kit "From Boadroom to Bar" and contains everything you need to freshen up before a big night (bar a little black dress!).  The set comes in a cosmetic bag and includes emergency items like moisturiser, tampons, toothpaste, deodrant, makeup remover and nail polish remover. It even contains an Advil pain reliever which might help get you in to work the next day!

Miette Beauty also has two other essentials kits "From Wheels to Heels" and "Beach Essentials".  Each set costs $29.95 and refills are available.  Check them out at www.miettebeauty.com.au - The Boadroom to Bar kit is definitely going to make my social life a little easier over the next few months.  I might even add a spare of stockings, some perfume and a pair of my foldaway flats into my kit and then I think I will be just about ready for the social season ...

Miette Beauty Essentials kits are now available at Girly Gadgets!

Enjoy the party season and stay girly!

Take a deep breath shoe lovers ...

Guess what shoe lovers! Now you can have your very own shoe booth to store your precious shoes.

That's right ladies, you  are not dreaming ... This shoe booth is real and will solve all of your shoe storing issues! No longer will your Jimmy Choos be swallowed by your wardrobe.

An Australian shoe addict who got tired of trying to source a rack for her shoes, decided to design one herself. And, it has all the makings of furniture designed by a woman for a woman.  Not only is this shoe booth sleek and sassy, it has tinted windows so that your shoes will blend with any decor and it comes with a remote control lighting system. The remote allows you to "set the mood" for your shoes.  You can select spotlight, all glow or soft mood lighting.

Available at Girly Gadgets, the BaBoo Shoe Booth comes in two sizes.  The Imelda fits 55 pairs of shoes as well as bags and boots and comes in gloss black or gloss white while the Carrie fits 25 pairs of shoes plus bags and boots.

Shoe shopping anyone?

Get Organised ...

Whether you are running a business, planning a wedding, managing the household or working full time ... life can get particularly hectic. Even with the help of everything from an Iphone to a Thub, sorting out life's paper trail can be a nightmare.  Bills, bills and more bills, application forms, registration forms ... the list goes on.

Every household has their favourite filing system from filing cabinet to letter tray,  but what about those immediate actions and reminders? The bill you have to pay next week.  The reminder to take the car for a service.  The local gym class schedule.  There are only so many magnets you can put on a fridge!

Organise Easy has come up with a cute and handy Girly Gadget to help manage the paperwork that needs "now" attention.  The Happeez Clipper is a stylish and colourful clip that grips to walls, stainless steel appliances, mirrors and glass. Once it sits where you want it to, you can clip papers underneath for easy access.  Also great for pinning up your favourite recipes while cooking or a child's piece of artwork on the fridge.

The clips come in some really fun colourful patterns to suit our princesses and divas.   My favourite is pale pink with a hot leopard skin stiletto heal on the front.  The clips are available in singles for $7.95 or sets of three fun styles for $19.95.  Currently they are only available at Organise Easy but we hope to have them on Girly Gadgets soon.

To celebrate this great Girly Gadget, we have two Happeez Clipper Singles to give away.  All you have to do is check out GirlyGadgets.com.au and tell us what your favourite Girly Gadget is in under 25 words.  The most creative entries will win.

Be quick, entries close on 1 August 2010.  Email belinda@girlygadgets.com.au with your entry.

Now... I suppose I better go and pay those bills.

Stay Girly!

Because they're worth it!

It's no surprise that I love shoes.  Shoes, shoes and more shoes. High heels, stilettos, strappy sandles, ballet slippers ... I love them all.  Yesterday, I was dreaming about purchasing a pair of extravagant heels from one of the designer boutiques in Collins Street. They were the most equisite shoes I had ever seen with soft elegant straps covered with just the right amount of diamontes and a cute kitten heel.  Not only were they well about my budget, I couldn't help but think about how many pairs of shoes I have ruined by walking around the city.  Working near Collins Street is not only dangerous for the shopping nearby, there are so many cracks, holes and slippery spots that even a short walk round the corner can leave you tripping or in the least bruising a gorgeous pair of heels.  The city was just not made for ladies in heels!

It was either give up heels, or find a solution!

Good news ladies, Original Sole knows how we feel and has brought out a range of gadgets for shoe lovers. Their slogan is "every pair of your shoes deserves one" and I tend to agree.  If you really want to wear your favourite pair of shoes without ruining your heels, try "Heel Huggers" .  They are plastic protectors that slip onto the bottom of the heel and shrink to make an invisible fit.  No more bruised heels!    And for those slippery winter days, Original Sole also has four cute styles of grippers that stick on the sole of your shoe.  They come in cream, clear and black.  My favourite is the sassy red heart which looks really cute on the bottom of your stilettos.

And, if you love shoes as much as me check out www.australianshoefair.com for the upcoming shoe exhibitions in your city.  Just imagine, a whole exhibition filled with shoes ...  heaven.

Hmm ... I might strut back down to that shoe boutique and try those heels on again.

Stay girly!

Baby's First Credit Card - Just a bit of fun?

Yesterday Little Girly Gadgets launched a new product, direct from the United States, a credit card teether for babies.  Designed and manufactured by Heelarious, these rubber Teethers are stamped with numbers, an expiry date and the name “Ima Spender”!

The Herald Sun yesterday featured the credit card teether in a photo shoot which made page 3 news.  This cute gift for newborns became an instant media frenzy with Psychologists and debt consultants claiming to be outraged by the product.

Social commentator Maggie Hamilton feels that children are being forced to grow into "mini-adults" far too fast and "clever advertisers" are infiltrating their minds from six months of age ...  and later comments that "This is not harmless or humorous. Childhood is an endangered species. It's very sad."

What I think is sad is that Maggie seems to have lost her sense of fun and fails to see the lighter side of what really is a cute gift for a baby.  After appearing on the Today Show yesterday morning to respond to criticism from the "sourpusses", I have recieved some fantastic emails of support from new mums who can't wait to get their hands on one with the majority saying "what a great idea", "we don't need to take things so seriously".

I particularly liked the blog by Baby Cup Cakes (one of our suppliers: check our their range under Baby Girl category) who seemed to get a little laugh out my interview on the Today Show ..."My favourite bit of the whole news story was when the co-owner of the online gift boutique pointed out that butterfly shaped teethers did not encourage babies to eat butterflies in later life" Whichever side you take, at the end of the day, this product is actually one of the best designed teethers on the market. In the words of Babyology "from a purely practical point of view, I always struggled to find teethers that were thin enough for little mouths to fit around and this one fits the bill".

If we really are what we chew on as a baby, I suppose Maggie must have sucked on lemons as a newborn :)

Stay Girly!
